Sixth Avenue Business District

When you’re looking for great spots in town for dining, dancing, and shopping, look no further than “the Ave” — Sixth Avenue, that is.

Stretching from State to Proctor streets, the Sixth Avenue business district is home to hundreds of shops, restaurants, night clubs, coffee houses and wine bars. During the day, sidewalks bustle with shoppers, while at night, the streets come alive as visitors converge at restaurants and nighlife.

Regarded by many as the poster child for business district revitalization efforts, Sixth Avenue has undergone a major transformation during the last decade. Thanks to streetscape improvements, new investment and the renovation and preservation of many of its historic properties, the district now enjoys a very low vacancy rate and is considered by many to be Tacoma’s premier shopping and entertainment destination.

The Sixth Avenue Business District runs along Sixth Avenue from State to Proctor streets, although businesses located just a block or two off the main arterial as well as those reaching as far west as Orchard Street.
