$1,000,000 for GTCF

Speaking of the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation here’s some more good news coming from their general direction: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded $1 million to the organization for re-granting into the Pierce County community.

$1 million is great news for the GTCF, and it’s great news for Tacoma and Pierce County. Out of the $5 million given by the Gates Foundation, this is the largest grant, followed by others ranging from $340,000 to $700,000. The money, which will be distributed through the GTCF’s Vibrant Community grant-making program, will go to programs that further growth and impact the community. The GTCF’s list of current grantees is an impressively varied one; we look forward to seeing what new programs they are able to support with this grant.
