18 WA Liquor Stores Back on the Market
If you were kicking yourself for missing the opportunity to get in on the liquor store privatization action when bidding closed on April 20, you’ve got a second chance.
Top bidders on 18 of the 167 liquor stores for sale by the state have backed out for one reason or another, putting those locations back on the market. Several of those stores are in the Tacoma area, including the store at South 72nd and Pacific Avenue, which was listed in April as the most expensive store in the state, with the top bid of just over three quarters of a million dollars. But that bid didn’t get paid, and the rights to that store will be back up for auction.
So you’ve got a second chance to bid on liquor stores, but if you’re going to bid in this round, you’d better be serious. The ante has been upped; the auction will be live, and the state is asking for a $10,000 deposit from bidders in this round.
