2012 City of Destiny Award Recipients Announced

The 2012 City of Destiny Award winners have been named, and will be presented the award, along with a glass sculpture from the Hilltop Artists in Residence Program at the May 8 awards assembly. Six individuals and three groups have been selected from the nominations for their outstanding volunteer contributions to their community in Tacoma.
Since 1987, the City of Tacoma has honored over 200 outstanding volunteers through its City of Destiny Awards program. The Citizens Recognition Committee of individuals appointed by the City Council selects the winners, who have volunteered time and energy, not money without financial compensation for their work within Tacoma’s city limits within the past 12 months. This year’s winners represent a diverse range of activities and communities within Tacoma. Thank you to all this year’s winners and nominees for your work to make Tacoma a better place.

Mayor Marilyn Strickland and the members of the Tacoma City Council cordially invite you to attend the 2012 City of Destiny Awards, a special event honoring these local volunteers for their service to our community. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
