2012 Washington State Republican Party Convention to be held in Tacoma

For the first time in a quarter century, the Washington State Republican Party convention will be held in Pierce County at the Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in May of 2012. This biannual gathering of delegates drew 1,700 attendees to Vancouver, Washington this year, and with a presidential election looming on the horizon for 2012, we can expect a healthy turnout.

You can check out what the party blog has to say about it here.

This is so exciting I am already stapling the tea bags to my cap.

I went to the Minnesota state republican convention a couple times in the 90’s and met Phil Gramm! I like to think I inspired him to dismantle the regulations that kept our financial system from imploding. I also drew a portrait of proto-teabagger governor candidate Allen Quist, which he promised to hang in his office. Such heady times!

hey it’s no quilt convention or child-killing MONSTER JAM, but i’m guessing the Convention Center is desperate for business.

I’d like to see the Republicans in the convention center and the Democrats in the T-Dome on the same weekend!

Hell, forget that. I want a no-holds barred death match between the parties at the T-Dome: 5,000 partisan politicians go in, none come out.

Truly, that would be a great service to our Beautiful State.

Wow, that even beats Mat Classic or a George Strait concert as a good reason to go downtown to people watch.
