2013: Year of the Bike in Tacoma?
2013 is looking like a good year for bicycling in Tacoma.
The Water Ditch Trail
Completed upgrades to Stadium Way and Pacific Avenue will include bike lanes and other complete streets enhancements. And the approval of grant funding for South Tacoma Way upgrades, to include bike lanes…
The City has accepted a $1 million Federal Discretionary Transportation Community and System Preservation Grant, and is working with WSDOT to obligate funds, which it will begin spending on bikeways and pedestrian improvements this year.
I think 2013 is going to be a fabulous year for getting more active transportation on the streets of Tacoma. The Water Ditch Trail will be connected up, Stadium Way will be beautiful with bike lanes and ped enhancements and we’ll have more miles of bike facilities arcing across this fine city. Little by little Tacoma will become better connected so people can walk and cycle to wherever they want to go.
