3rd Thursday Artwalk Replaced With 3rd Thursday Art Mingle

Changes are coming to Tacoma’s popular and prominent Third Thursday Art Walks. In fact, the Art Walk as we know it will be going away, to be replaced by a new series of events with a new focus, according to a recent press release:

Third Thursday ArtWalk Association Has a New Name & Renewed Focus

TACOMA, WASHINGTON USA – November 15, 2013 – The former Third Thursday Artwalk Association, made up of downtown Tacoma museums and galleries, voted unanimously on Friday, August 17, 2012, to change the name and to broaden both the membership criteria and the activities of the organization.

Now known as TAG :: Tacoma Art Group, an arts organization in the City of Tacoma whose membership is open to museums, galleries, art organizations, artists, art-related businesses and art show spaces, and the activities of the new organization will continue to build upon and celebrate the incredible energy of the arts in Tacoma.

The mission of the arts organization is to:

• Serve as the official source of information for 3rd Thursday Tacoma Art Mingle (formerly Third Thursday Artwalk)
• Create strategic alliances among a collective hub of the Tacoma Art Community (museums, galleries, art organizations, artists, artrelated businesses and art show spaces)
• Encourage and stimulate participation of the general public in Tacoma’s local art scene
• Identify collective project opportunities that promote the arts in our community

Tacoma Art Group is “who we ARE” and Art Mingle is “what we DO.”

3rd Thursday Tacoma Art Mingle (formerly Third Thursday Artwalk) is an opportunity to stimulate Tacoma’s commitment to the arts and to further highlight Tacoma as an arts destination. A collective Art Mingle at Arts destinations throughout the City.

The official launch date for 3rd Thursday Tacoma Art Mingle is 1/17/2013. Look for 3rd Thursday Tacoma Art Mingle buildup promotional campaign and new logo at art destinations around the city each 3rd Thursday beginning November 2012.
