4 Stars for Tacoma's Hotel Murano
You may have heard already, but we wanted to take a minute to congratulate our friends over at the Hotel Murano for being named a four-star hotel on Forbes’ 55th Annual Travel Guide list.
The view of sunrise from the Murano: not half bad – even when the mountain won’t quite show its face.

Since the old Tacoma Sheraton became the Murano in 2006, the hotel has brought awards and attention from outside Tacoma.
The Murano is the first Tacoma hotel on the Forbes four star list, but this isn’t it’s first award; the hotel appeared on the Conde Nast Readers’ Choice list in 2009-, and again in 2011, and has gotten coverage from as far away as Scotland, as well as on the Today Show, CNN Money, and more.
In celebration of the award, every guest who checked in to the Murano yesterday was treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly. You can always enjoy the Murano the way we like to – from the bar in the lobby.
Congratulations again to the Murano.

Funny to see this the week of Wintergrass’ third year in Bellevue.
I’d give the Murano five stars if they hadn’t driven Wintergrass out of town. Now that there will soon be a couple of new downtown hotels, a non-Murano contingent (and the Murano too if they’ve seen the light) should approach the Wintergrass folks with a proposal to bring the festival back.
