5th Annual Bird Lovers Weekend at MoG

If you’re a lover of birds and glass art, you need to attend the 5th Annual Bird Lovers Weekend. However, this Museum of Glass event, though dedicated to birds and bird enthusiasts, is full of activities for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re an avid bird watcher or not.

The Museum of Glass and Finland’s iittala, Inc. are teaming up this three-day event, featuring the U.S. debut of the newest iittala Birds and Cartoon Chicks designed by Anu. The 2008 designs for the Birds by Toikka collection, Ruffed Grouse and Red Poll, will also be featured.

Penttinen and iittala master glassblower, Arto Lahtinen, will work with the MoG Hot Shop team to create both Toikka and Penttinen-designed birds.  Additional activities include a panel discussion about the impact of environmental change on the Marbled Murrelet with Mirrored Murrelets, live bird visits from Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, bird signing sessions with Anu Penttinen, and a special hands-on art activity.
