Derek…. That’s better reporting than anything I’ve seen from the News Tribune on this local race. Keep up the good work.

To the TNT… you should be embarrassed for yourselves.

so i’m listening to it… they seem to agree on every point. Not as entertaining as the merritt-attack-mode podcast, but helpful. thanks Exit 133!

The East side needs a lot of help.

Which candidate can better breath life into it and the City of Tacoma generally?

ANY candidate is better than the “YES choir” that we have now.
Every issue before them, they had might as well all speak in unison, “YES”. Never a dissenting vote. I haven’t actually researched it, but I would bet cold, hard cash that in the past 4 years there has not been one “NAY” vote cast.

I like this interview. I am very pro Roxanne Murphy. I believe the eastside needs someone young and on their feet. Also RR agree with you about the Merritt-attack-mode. Too bad this is what some canidates feel is the way to go.

Marty Campbell will make a great city council member.

I like Roxanne, but I support Marty because I believe he is ready to do the job. He will make sure that the east side and the south end get the attention and support they need and deserve!

For the same reasons, I also support Beckie Summers Kirby.

Both candidates have lots to offer. They agree on much, but that might just be that their hearts – and answers – are in the right place.

The comment by North Ender is on the money. This is rich – and unlike anything we see or hear from the TNT. They have some good folks there, but as a collective, they are terribly disappointing.

    Sad.

is Dominic Black really from Australia?

Great interview. I think either would do a great job and have a lot to offer… actually I think they should hire them BOTH!

The South End needs a ton of help but unfortunately, I doubt we’ll see drastic improvements anytime soon. The streets of 38th and Pacific bring all sorts of drunks, drugs, gang-bangers, etc right through the neighborhoods.

Another problem that can’t really be solved is that a lot of the homes in the South End are not owner-occupied (high ratio of renters) and they could care less about the condition of the property.

I know it was A LOT worse in the past but hearing gun shots at night and seeing drunks with open containers is still a common scene.

It’s no surprise that there is still a large price point between home values in say Lincoln District vs the North End. I’ve seen a few homes sell as low as $80k that were actually livable and didn’t need much work.

So I’m listening to this and can’t help but think how lucky we are to have so many great city council candidates who should really be running for school board….I must be in the minority, but I don’t want the person I elect to fix my potholes to simultaneously try to fix my schools. Yes, there’s some overlap between the various branches of gov’t and that’s what 360 offers to synthesize, but I want board members to specialize in their strengths: Marty’s economic development – Roxanne: crime prevention.

Like Marty’s YMCA idea though. He’s on the money there.
