A Couple of Projects
Who says there aren’t any affordable houses left in Tacoma? Two listings hit my inbox this morning for homes under $100k on South 18th Street and South Ainsworth above downtown. Okay, the listings may be a dit daunting with statements like:
“Needs work, plumbing, floors, walls, fixtures, major kitchen repair.”
“Needs rehab, siding, electrical, plumbing, gutters, walls, fixtures, floor, etc. Appliances unknown and not guaranteed. Siding may be asbestos, Garage needs significant work. Buyer to verify all to their satisfaction or buy site unseen.”
So it would be alright to call these “project” homes, but where’s your sense of adventure? With a mortgage this low (assuming a bank will finance them), you can afford a lot of new drywall.
Try these instead:

Speaking of changes in branding (“no comment” on CLC’s new name), the new improved Exit 133 should consider a new tagline — don’t you think “In Tacoma by Choice” is a bit defensive? Shouldn’t we assume that people don’t think we’re trapped here?

All true Tacoman’s are born with a chip on their shoulder. I happen to like Exit 133’s tagline. The new name for CLC does seem awfully obscure. Maybe people will eventually figure out what Forterra is, but I doubt it

Forterra sounds like a coffee or mining company.

Japanese car maker Toyota made up a name for one of its cars: Celica.
Between Celica and Fort&rra, the Japanese can distinguish an A and the Latin derived Ampersand.

Hmmm I get it now. Forterra would be making a word outta for, as in in favor of; and terra, is in earth. Therefore, Forterra means for the earth. If Sarah Palin can make up nonsense words, why can’t treehuggers?

Oh this so confusing…I meant C&lica.
