A Glimpse At the Pythian Temple

For some reason, much discussion has been had about the historic Pythian Temple recently. Everyone from RR Anderson to Marguerite have expressed interest in the Lodge and its Frederick Heath designed 1906 architecture. For all of those going on the photo safari and everyone else just plain fascinated, here are a few photos that Whitney took on a recent tour of the space.

What don’t you see here? Plenty. The beautiful Castle Room with its ornate plaster work and paintings. The exterior. Plus, there are so many little details and hidden corners that twelve shots aren’t going to do it justice. We look forward to seeing what y’all find.

I wonder how associated the Pythians were-are with the Freemasons?

The safari should be great tomorrow. Hope to get some fantastic shots in there. Thanks for the attempted spoiler tho. ;)

Nice to see more and more events occur there.

There is a growing interest in joining as reflected in Daniel Blue’s thread.

They have the space. We have members.

What about that name on the plaque—-J.B. Knight. Isn’t that the New Age channeler who has the fenced compound down in Yelm? You know, friend of actress Linda Evans and Shirley Maclain and Oprah and that musician Zany or Yanni…

    “Calling Ramtha, Ramtha…can I get a copy…Calling Ramtha, 10-4, do you copy?”

That’s J.Z.Knight, I think. Add Salma Hayek to the list of famous followers, she’s been seen in Oly and in Yelm on the way to the compound. If I was the spirit of a trillion yr old warrior I know I’d want a compound in Yelm. Ramtha could be my neighbor. we go cow tipping with our minds.

My favorite image at the Pythian is here, but its hard to see.

It’s the picture of the six youths holding placards spelling out T A C O M A from maybe a century ago right next to the orginal letter placards. (Pictures 2 and 3 above)

Here comes my unabashed membership plug: Membership in the Knights is only $35 a year. The initiation is only slightly discomforting and very 19th Century. Join and you will get to see Castle Hall any Monday. There aren’t many members, so there are lots of opportunities to contribute. I am afraid is a guy only thing, but there are the Sisters also. Stop by on a Monday night at the Court C entrance around 6:30 PM to get more information or send me an e-mail.

I would never belong to a club that would have someone like me as a member.

    PSYCH!
