A Gorgeous Day With Dandelions

I woke up today to rays of sunshine beaming through all our windows.  The sky was blue.  The air was crisp, but the sun made things feel a bit warmer.  As I stepped into our backyard this afternoon I looked into the grass and saw two familiar yellow flowers.  Darn it.  It’s time.  It’s that season.  The rains are letting up, the sun is coming down, and the dandelions are springing forth en masse.  Last year I let them go a little too long.  It was a battle last year that ended in a draw as winter finally set in.  It has taken us a couple years to bring the morning glory under control.  I think we’ve won that battle.  This year I plan to attack the dandelions early and keep it up.  I started today.  With a stocking cap on my head, my ‘weekend jeans’ on, and a pocketful of tools, I filled several large buckets full of weeds.  It felt good.  There’s plenty more.
