What it is: The Short Course on Local Planning is a joint program of the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED) and the Planning Association of Washington. It was created more than 30 years ago to provide basic education about land use planning to the citizens of Washington State. Courses are offered throughout the state at the request of counties, cities, towns, or other interested organizations. For more information, please visit: www.cted.wa.gov/site/395/default.aspx.
Topics to be covered include: 1) the Legal Basis of Planning, 2) Comprehensive Planning and Implementation, and 3) Historic Preservation Planning. This is an excellent opportunity for interested citizens to learn more about how local planning works, and how historic preservation fits into the planning context.
