America's Got Talent - Are You Ready?
You may not remember this, but a few weeks ago we noted that America’s Got Talent is coming to Tacoma. Well, whether you wish to partake in the festivities or not, the chaos starts tomorrow.

The pre-screening auditions begin this weekend. What does this mean? Well, a lot of (potentially talented) people will be converging on the Convention Center. And, according to the Biz Buzz, they don’t know how many a lot could be. Tens of thousands? Twelve? Some number in between?
Once they’ve made it through auditions, the TV crews will roll in for the show itself. Crews will be arriving on Tuesday, April 28th and filming will occur on the 29th at the Pantages Theater. One email we received noted: “We anticipate there will be increased traffic and parking congestion near and around the Broadway Center in downtown Tacoma.” So … you’ve been warned.
Now, should you wish to join the fun, you can still get tickets for the show via the Broadway Center’s website. There will be two tapings. Each will have sixty pre-screened contestants. Tickets are free, but you must order them in advance. Interested? It could be quite fascinating …

Oh no, I’m out of town so I can’t make it. Somebody pick up my silly torch and run with it.

The question should be, “downtown businesses are you ready?” There will be a crowd for “America’s Got Talent” auditions at the convention center AND the NW Dive Expo is there, too. Potential for thousands of hungry, thirsty people roaming around downtown. Some of them may have time on their hands waiting for a friend or family member to audition and want to shop. Downtown. On the weekend. : )

I hope there will be places to go and eat while we are down that way. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am coming in from out of town and am bringing my family so they too need something to do.

Places to eat, eh?
There’s Tacqueria El Guadalajara on North Tacoma Ave & North 1st.
There’s also India Mahal if you’re not wanting to go up the hill.
If you want to go up by Wright Park, you can see the 102 year old WW Seymour conservatory and go to the Hob Knob to eat nearby. There is also Puget Sound Pizza on St Helens & 8th.
