Announcing The Horatio Theater

Have you been wondering what Erik Hanberg has been up to recently?  We have. So here’s what we know. Erik, whose recent departure from the Grand made headlines in both the blog and print news worlds, has found a new project and is ready to start talking about it. 

What is it?

A new theater project unlike any other in town.  Sure, we have a few shows at the Broadway Center, TAG, or the Tacoma Little Theatre.  For the truly innovative (or weird) shows we have to go to Seattle.  Erik’s looking to change that with the creation of The Horatio Theater.  The theater will be a professional, for-profit theater. It will focus on small, intimate plays that have not been staged in Tacoma, usually plays that are risqué, controversial, or otherwise “R-rated” but always relevant.

Lease negotiations are ongoing and an announcement is expected soon. 

What can you do to help?

The Horatio Theater is looking for a few folks interested in investing in the start up phase of the project.  Erik has some pretty innovative ideas for marketing and fundraising.  This would be a pretty interesting project to get into.  Do you have a thousand dollars to spare?  Maybe a few thousand?  I’ve seen a lot of projects that are a lot less grand and cool that wanted a lot more money.  He’s not looking for much.  We may be interested in helping out.  The pay back would be over several years as the project matures.  It’s intriguing…  Who’s in?  Contact Erik directly via his website for more info.

On September 21, at 7:00 pm, Erik Hanberg will host an informational meeting at NFI Models & Talent on Opera Alley for actors, directors, and others interested in participating on or back stage.
