Another Mapping Project
After doing a bit of rework on the original condo map, I started to map out a few other sites in town – like the Winthrop, a few museums, and restaurants.

The goal of the new map is to note those places that are causing discussion or are coming up on sites like Exit133. I don’t want this to be as busy as the original map and it isn’t intended to show every condo and every restaurant in town. This map will always be changing depending on the conversations of the day/week/month. Any suggestions for additions to the map?

Put some of the FOSS projects on there, especially the one on the east side and site 1.

I’m disappointed to see the omission (perhaps intentional) of some of the more groundbreaking developments in town. Developments such as Court 17, Villagio II and the ever-controversial Simon Johnson Foss Harbor development. And if we’re going to promote new restaurants and businesses, maybe try some of the new ones that perhaps haven’t been on the radar at all on this site (such as the glassblowing shop on S. 23rd).
I agree with not crowding the map with too many sites, but come on, how many people out there DON’T know where the History Museum is? Stick with the new and emerging hot button issues.

This map was meant to create a context for the regular discussions. The inclusion of the museums had more to do with creating a waypoint for folks. A lot of people email me asking where the condos, or certain restaurants, are relative to the history museum or union station. It may seem a bit strange, but a lot of regular Exit133 readers don’t actually live in Tacoma.
There is no particular agenda for omitting or including particular locations. I simply went through what had been discussed on the site and started dropping them onto the map. If there’s interest in a restaurant and/or commercial only map similar to the full blow condo map, that is easy enough to generate. All I need is a volunteer willing to put the information together. With school and the holidays, I don’t have time. Somebody volunteered once upon a time, but I lost that email…
Or do we need to create a map for places we’ve overlooked and should’ve talked about more in 2006.
