Are You A 72 Hour Filmmaker?

The Grand Cinema’s 72-Hour Film Competition is back again for its 5th year. Are you filmmaker ready to be discovered? Can you create the next South 5? Whether you’re experienced or not, now’s your opportunity to shine!

What is it? Here’s the concept according to The Grand:

  • Filmmakers gather at the Grand in Thursday, April 30.
  • Everyone is given a list of a few criteria that MUST be included in every film. Examples include a line of dialogue or a certain prop.
  • Each person or team then has 72 hours to script, shoot and edit a film that is no longer than 5 minutes in length.
  • Films are due back at the Grand Cinema on Sunday evening, May 3.
  • Then on Friday, May 8 all the films are screened at the Rialto Theater in downtown Tacoma. Last year’s event drew about 500 people!
  • Everyone has a lot of fun, from the filmmakers to the audience!

The cost is $50 per team. For this you’ll get 4 tickets to the event (tickets are $12 each if you are not a member of the Grand Cinema) and a DVD of all the films. There is a limit of 30 teams and half the spots are already filled so if you are interested, stop by the Grand Cinema soon.
