Bandix Dog Park
Today seemed like a day made for Baci. The sun was out this morning and the day seemed gorgeous – bulbs popping out of the ground and buds beginning to burst open on the trees. It was the first good sun we’ve seen in a while. We loaded Baci into the car and headed out. Every other car, or at least the ubiquitous Subarus, seemed to have a dog in it looking to play. Baci was going nuts. Very quickly we knew that we had to give him some activity if we wanted to have lives ourselves. Since we had nothing else planned, we headed to Bandix Dog Park in Kitsap to let Baci’s yayas out.
Bandix is probably our favorite Dog Park in the area. Rogers is good. Fort Steilacoom will probably be great. Bandix is special to us because of its size and the trail system. Our goal in heading to this dog park is to keep walking and allow Baci to get used to walking with us on trails while running into other dogs and people that don’t mind his being around. I don’t trust him fully, yet. Eventually we’ll take him out on some serious hikes and overnight camping trips. Bandix gives us a good opportunity to practice. When we go to Rogers Park we tend to stand around while the dogs play. Bandix is different. Here we can walk the trails and see how Baci watches us. Does he run ahead? Does he wait at the corners? He’s getting better.

This weeks highlight:
Yet another round of raises for government employees at a time when the local ratepayers are facing record foreclosures, record unemployment, record mortgage delinquencies, record sales tax rates, and record property tax mill rates. But it’s all OK…because it comes in “conjunction with a national contract.”
