Barber Pete Lira on Russell Investments
Yesterday afternoon we spent some time talking to people around Tacoma about the news that Russell Investments has chosen to leave our city. Today we will bring you two of those stories. We begin with barber Pete Lira at his shop at 9th & Pacific Avenue. Listen in as he talks about his business, the impact of Russell, and his opinion of Dominic Black’s current haircut.
Now that we know where Russell is headed, where do we go from here?

The last 30 seconds or so gave me a great laugh, so how can Pete claim to not have a sense of humor? That was classic! Thanks.
He mentions the restaurants that may lose business with Russell’s move, and I can add that Russell lost my business because of their move. Not that they’ll notice, but I moved my IRA from Russell to another (no load) outfit.

Pete is the best barber in town, and he’s one of the sagest observers downtown.

I was glad to hear that Pete no longer cuts the hair of customers after they have died.

I think I just changed to a new barber. No more “stylists” for Squid.

Pete – do you and Junior (shoeshine at Murano Hotel) go back to 6th Ave. at Buff’s 6th & Cedar ala Cedar Inn ?
Been awhile but you and 6th Ave. a few years ago were making history !

Hey…Junior the shoe shine man is still shinin’ on? I used to play poker with/against him up at Buff’s place like thirty-five years ago. Buff the barber built one of the first legal card rooms in Tacoma (1974, ’75) in the corner room next to his shop (now the Milwaukie Cafe).

Its great to see my barber continue to work his way up in the fame.
This is a great place to get your haircut and it is the best cut in town.
