Bass Pro Shop to Open in Tacoma - Complete With Bowling Alley

We like fish, and we like fun, so the news that Tacoma has been selected as the site for the first Bass Pro Shops location in the Northwest caught our attention.

The press release announcing the opening of the Tacoma location calls Bass Pro Shops “America’s most popular outdoor store,” and although there’s a Northwest outdoor retailer we’re kind of fond of, when we read about the plans for the new Bass store, we could see where they might be popular too.

Under the roof of the new “large format” 170,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, which will be located at I-5 and 72nd Street, shoppers will find the expected equipment and clothing for hiking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, camping, outdoor cooking and more, as well as a boat show room. Perhaps less expected, however, will be the “much-acclaimed Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill,” a nautical-themed casual family dining venue – complete with 12-lane bowling alley. Fascinating.

You could be making a stop at the Bass store on your way to your favorite fishing hole as early as summer of 2014. Or if the weather’s not right, just skip the fishing, and go bowling instead….

Read all the details in the Bass press release.

I believe it may be the first LARGE FORMAT store in the NorthWest but Anchorage Alaska is getting one around Sept. or Oct. in a local mall Retail store.

Alaska is part of the Northwest? Huh, that had never occurred to me. (Is Hawaii part of the Southwest?)
