Beautiful Angle on Display

Everyone’s favorite wheatpasted-letterpressed-guerilla posted posters will be going on display tonight. Beautiful Angle has put together a complete retrospective of their work. However there is a catch. It’s in the “unwashed, unincorporated lands of Parkland, WA.” But really. You should try and make it out.

From their invitation:

Join Beautiful Angle tonight … We’ll be showing A COMPLETE RETROSPECTIVE of our work. We’d love to see a strong contingent of downtown Tacoma folks drive south for the reception. There’ll be a smattering (and we do mean smattering) of free food, a cool crowd, and nearly 100 posters on the wall.

NOTE: NO POSTERS WILL BE SOLD AT THIS EVENT. THIS IS NOT OUR ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY AND BENEFIT SALE. THAT’S COMING ON DECEMBER 12 AT BLACKWATER CAFE, SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THAT ONE.

See you there?

Doesn’t the fact that we know who the individuals that actually make them not qualify BA’s posters as gurella?

    Parkland?
Why on earth did they go to Parkland?
These cats are a Tacoma institution, not a Parkland one.

They may as well have had the show in Seattle.
I won’t be driving south when I could have easily taken the bLink.

I went tonight—it’s a really good show! I would go again, hopefully with some friends in tow.

The graphics and words are individually stunning, but together have an even stronger impact. I like the way Lance and Tom mix powerful graphics, good typography, luminosity of spirit and a generous dose of whimsy.

Posters are displayed in chronological order, so it’s also neat to see the progression of Beautiful Angle’s technique and art.

If you go, please note that the gallery entrance is off 8th Street, towards the right. Street parking is on 121st and on 8th.

Do these guys do anything other than a monthly poster?

Granted, the posters are cool and all. But why not branch into other styles or other mediums?

Am I the only one who gets bored making the same thing?
