Best of Western Washington 2009

Evening Magazine’s annual Best of Western Washington contest on King5.com has been lighting up our inboxes for the last few weeks. With over 100 categories and 6300 nominees across the region, we feel a bit overwhelmed trying to keep up with all of you. That said, here’s your chance to yell from the rooftops. If you think we should vote for a particular business, put it in the comments with a link to the voting page. We’ll consolidate what we can into a longer list as we get closer to the deadline.

Voting ends on October 11th.

Moon Rise Cafe for Breakfast. They’re not in Tacoma (Lakewood), but they have delicious food (homemade scones, jam, bread and even salad dressing!) and the owner/staff are great people. Check it out!

Getting Tacoma on Seattle’s map, now there’s an enterprise worthy of an earky Spanish novel.

I remember asking Seattle Times and P.I. restaurant critics to review Tacoma Szechuan Restaurant in Lakewood. Leslie Kelly of the P.I. showed an interest, but could not get sanctioned to do so by her bosses. She did come to Tacoma on her own and ask for recommendations, but, alas, no review.

That said, I’d like to be the first drumbeat for two remarkable local restaurants. Tacoma Szechuan in the Chinese category, and Marzano Italian Restaurant in Parkland for Italian food. Either compete at a regional and even national level. Join me and fill their list with these two culinary pearls.

I second Flannigan’s suggestions. Both would be huge hits in San Francisco, let alone Seattle. Heck they’d love either place in Vancouver, the one in Canada. I’m not even sure if San Francisco has Chinese food as tasty as Tacoma Szechuan. Fancier yes, tastier, I’m not so sure.

My Vote Is For The Proctor House Restaurent In The North End Of Tacoma. I Travel A Lot Thu Out The U.S.A And Canada And I Have Yet To Find An Establishment That Can Beat The Menu, (Both Lunch And Dinner And Desert) Servers And Atmosphere. My Out Of Town Guest Like To Use The Phrase, This Place Is As Good As The Nicest Places In (New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco Ect.) My Reply Is Allways, No, They Might Be As Good As The Proctor House!
