Bike to Work Day - It's Today
I wasn’t going to bring up Bike to Work day again, but… I changed my mind. Today is Bike To Work day and Tacoma’s local blogs all support alternative transportation. I love it. Two parts of Exit133 rode nearly 35 miles this morning to get to the office. James at Tacomaness tends to take the Sounder and Jamie at Thrice All American usually bikes to work in downtown Tacoma (you did bike this morning, right?). We rode down St. Helens this morning with a gentleman who ‘has only biked twice in the last three years.’ He was heading downtown. As we continued northward we saw a reasonable number of people on bikes. It was good to see people of all abilities out on the road.
Do you know where the Eells Street bridge is? We didn’t. The closing of the Eells Street Bridge forced us to detour a bit. This is a regular part of our route, but we had no idea what the bridge was called until today. Extra miles can be a good thing.
Keep riding, walking, or soundering. It’s good for you.
Did you bike to work today?

Looks like a handy app. I just got it. Thanks for the tip.

The WSDOT app is OK. I like the “Seattle Freeways” one better. That and “One Bus Away” are incredibly helpful for getting around the region.

Yes one busway is my favorite and most used app.

I’ve used the WSDOT App for about a year, mostly for the traffic map and mountain passes (do the other Apps have the passes and non-urban areas?). Much faster loading than using the browser. It does not have the Traffic Alerts function that the website has so I have to use the browser for that. Right now (during the storm) the regular website is very slow (overloaded?) and I’m unable to get the Tacoma traffic map to display on my computer, but it comes up fine on the App on my phone.
