Brown and Haley Honored as Trader of the Year

It would appear that congratulations are in order for the folks over at Brown and Haley; the Tacoma(ish)-based business has been named “Trader of the Year” by Seattle’s World Trade Club.

The award is a great 100th birthday gift for the company that makes the tasty little Almond Rocas that remind us of grandma’s house. Formed in 1912, they began making their best know candy in 1923, and it has been popular ever since. According to Brown and Haley’s history page :

ALMOND ROCA® confection traveled with U.S. troops to Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific during World War II, then to Korea and Vietnam. It continues to be a favorite of our troops around the world. Over time, overseas troops introduced it to locals in foreign markets, which fueled company exports. “The candy that travels” has been found in 63 countries including Europe, Africa, South America, Australia and Asia.

Not a bad tale for a little candy. Now if you’ll excuse us, our sweet tooth is calling…
