CAGW Identify Tacoma "Pork"

Citizens Against Government Waste has published its 2006 list of government pork projects.  On this list are five Tacoma projects.  What got my attention was the MSNBC Highlight:

The Kick in the Glass Award For $550,000 for the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Wash.

Ouch.  It’s listed just below a boxing club in Henderson, Nevada and above funding for the National Wild Turkey Federation.  The reason cited for the Museum of Glass is “No Budget Request, added in Conference”.  That would be pork by definition I guess…  It still hurts.

The complete list of Tacoma pork includes:

$550,000 City of Tacoma Family Justice Center (State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance – Byrne Discretionary Grant)
$750,000 City of Tacoma Family Justice Center (State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance – Byrne Discretionary Grant)
$550,000 Museum of Glass in Tacoma, for construction of facilities (Economic Development Initiative)
$200,000 Foss Waterway Development Authority in Tacoma, for redevelopment of its downtown urban core (Economic Development Initiative)
$1,500,000 Tacoma Rail Mountain Division Rail-Line improvements from Frederickson to Morton (Federal Highway Administration)
