Calling All Filmmakers

In a few weeks the Grand’s next 72 Hour Film Competition will begin. This is the fourth year of local filmmakers showing off their skills. Last year’s competition was the birthplace for South 5, as well as some other truly great films.

This year’s competition kicks off at 8:00 pm, May 1, at the Grand. Filmmakers will have until Sunday, May 4, at 8:00 to create a 5-minute film. Then on Friday, May 9, all of the films will be shown at the Rialto Theater beginning at 7:00 p.m.

There are still open slots for filmmakers, but you’d better sign up soon because the competition usually fills up. The cost for filmmakers is $50, which includes four tickets to the screening at the Rialto.
