Chambers Bay in the NYTimes

Chambers Bay, our county owned municipal golf course overlooking the water, has received yet another mention in the global press. This time the New York Times chimes in with a glowing description of under the headline, “Play America’s Next Great Golf Course.”

Built atop an old sand-and-gravel quarry, Chambers is a barren, links-style layout pimpled with dunes and mounds; it’s so true to the British Isles that if not for the snow-capped Olympic Mountains looming in the background, you’d swear you were hacking around Scotland or Ireland.

    Oh New York Schmoo York – that’s so last week. Tacoma is obviously well known for more than its schneebly golf courses, I mean the New Kids are coming to the Tacoma Dome in November, get with the program. NKOTB – that’s a five letter acronym people!
