CHB To Kick Off “Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tacoma”
Citizens for a Healthy Bay (CHB), a non-profit organization aimed at protecting Commencement Bay, is holding a kick-off event to launch its newest program, Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tacoma (BEST). The event will be held next week on Thursday, Oct. 29th at 10:00 am at Chalet Bowl in the Proctor District. Attendees will hear from local leaders and enjoy light refreshments while CHB honors the first BEST businesses, which include Chalet Bowl, Stadium Thriftway, Totem Ocean Trailer Express and University Place Refuse and Recycling.
The BEST program, which is free to local businesses, teaches cost-saving sustainable business practices. CHB provides confidential assessments and recommendations on how to reduce energy and water use, increase recycling, reduce landfill waste, and prevent stormwater pollution.
If a business chooses to implement the recommendations, it is named as one of Tacoma’s “BEST” businesses.
We can’t remember the last time we went to a project kick-off at the Chalet Bowl. We like it. We should go bowling more often.
