Chelsea Heights Apts Now for Lease
You know, it’s been a very long time since we’ve talked about Prium …
Tacoma Untapped writes today on the launch of Chelsea Heights, Prium’s condo/office/apartment project at 6th and J streets, onto the rental market. As many of you that follow this site know, this project has taken a bit of time to get finished. Well, now’s your chance to see it. “$1150 for a 2 bedroom apartment” in “the heart of the action” …
Those of you that have been here a long time may remember the little building that originally sat on that corner was built by “Happy Fred Hines” as a service station in 1927. But that was before the condo development boom …

About time! A populated building is far preferable to an empty one. Let’s just hope Prium has the brains to price the rents at a level that can actually be met in our nearly 10% unemployed city, and not some pie-in-the-sky 2006 rate.

Haters. Let what happens, happen. All I’m concerned with at the moment is one little thing. Russell. Stay or go let me know, so we can move on and become great.

$1150 for a 2-bedroom seems pretty reasonable for this ‘hood, especially if it includes free wifi and parking (are both of those still included in the deal, I wonder…?) The location seems kind of on the borderline to me, but I’m sure it will be popular with the students.

Students can afford $1150 apartments? Day-umn, a lot has changed in 10 years…

It’s an attractive building in a pretty great spot. If I was looking for a place Chelsea Heights would be on my short list.

jamie – a lot of the college kids I see around Tacoma can somehow afford to smoke $6/pack smokes in addition to living in $1200-$1400/month condo conversions, so yeah, times have changed. I graduated in ’94; smokes were $2.50 and my share of the rent was 300, 400 tops ;^)

“Heart of the Action”, you’d think it would be closer to 6th and Pine. I’m wondering what kind of action you find around the Chelsea Heights.

I think that Chelsea Heights is at the “heat of the action” so long as bus #1 runs until after the bars close. That would be awesome.
Right now, I think the bus service ends before that.

Bunk beds in both bedrooms, you got 4 people splitting $1150 rent? Those are for sure student prices.
Better than the rathole dorm I lived in.

It’s too bad some of those other cancelled condo projects couldn’t have been built and just made into apartments instead. I’m sure they would have filled.

Hey, David Boe! Have I got an Imagine Tacoma for you… picture, if you will, something like the 22 story unbuilt Jay Heights on that lot across the street from Chelsea Hts.
