Children's Museum Launches Preschool

We were excited to read that the Children’s Museum of Tacoma will be launching a preschool this fall. Maybe it’s our own fond childhood memories of both preschool and children’s museums. Maybe it’s our childish excitement about the new Tacoma Children’s Museum. Probably a little of all of the above.

Preschool Highlights:

  • Weekly engagement in a creative classroom and use of full Museum environment.
  • 1:6 adult to child ratio, plus inclusion of parents in cooperative options and celebrations.
  • Documentation of child’s growth and development over academic year.
  • Commitment to whole family learning, including resources for the adults and parents.
  • Classes are facilitated by experienced Museum program staff.
  • Museum membership included with enrollment.
  • Curbside drop-off and pick-up options.
  • Enrollment closes on September 1, 2012, or as soon as classes fill.
  • The school year lasts 9 months, with drop-off and co-op pricing available.

Preschool in the Children’s Museum sounds fantastic to us. We love all the exciting and dynamic things they’re doing down there in their new space. If you’re too old for preschool, but still love the Children’s Museum, you can support them and their new “pay as you will” admissions policy, which keeps the museum’s doors open to all children. If you’re lucky, there might still be a seat or two left at this Saturday’s Playing Under the Stars fundraiser.

Oh, and don’t forget the Satellite Coffee in the museum lobby – open to the public, and from what we hear, giving away free 6 oz. Iced Toddy Mochas today and tomorrow…
