City Launches "MyTacoma" Service

Quick, what neighborhood council district are you in? Is your home in the McChord Air Accident Zone? How many cars were stolen within a half mile of your home last month as compared to the year before?

We’re willing to bet you didn’t know the answer to all of those questions.

That’s why the City of Tacoma has launched MyTacoma a service that allows you to find information about your home, your neighborhood, your city, with web links, phone numbers, and quick database access. Just type in your parcel number or address and the data starts flowing (here’s a tip: when searching for an address, just type in the numbers of your address and a list of address options should drop down for you).

It’s a handy service. All of us at Suite133 are having fun playing around with it. “You think you live in a dangerous neighborhood, well my neighborhood had six cases of mail theft this year!” … and the like.

    Ooh, fancy web technology!

Wonder how they define the McChord crash/noise zones…I’m apparently not in either, but I know for damn sure that we get our share of overhead planes and noise…

The crash zone is off South Tacoma Way. Development is supposed to be limited in this zone, but since many of the homes predate the creation of the zone, there are still a fair number people living in the zone. Turn on the zoning option in the GovME online mapping to view: http://wspwit01.ci.tacoma.wa.us/govMe/Maps/Inter/MapGuideCS/MGMain.aspx

Woo-hoo! The overall crime in our 1/2 block radius is down 9.6% for the year. But violent crimes are up 20.5%

    property crime: +15.7%
    drug crimes: +33.3%
    other crimes: +53.3%

all around Suite 133! no doubt due to the shady characters that frequent this “co-working” space. or is that just a cover?

Love it. Now my husband has no excuse for forgetting which week is which recycling barrel! And we have a way to know if the city is fining the slum lords with derelict houses on our block.
