City of Tacoma's North Shore Appeal Tossed

8/26 A couple of birds have told us that a major development in the City’s legal battle over the North Shore project will be announced on Monday. Apparently, the City’s appeal of the Hearing Examiner’s ruling from last month was incomplete. We hear that a legal technicality over subpoenas will may cause the appeal to be thrown out.

8/27 Update: Devona Wells on the Trib’s Open House blog talked to North Shore attorney Aaron Laing who cast more light on the status of the appeal.

9/4 Update: The City has sent out an official press release confirming the incomplete application and their withdrawal of the appeal process. This line in the release caught our eye:

The sole issue on appeal was whether Northshore Investors’ permit application was complete on the date of original filing for purposes of further processing. The extent to which the restriction contained in the recorded 1981 Open Space Taxation Agreement limits development of the golf course was not at issue in the City’s appeal and remains unresolved.

Pity they built it before parking was invented.

Oh, wait – I guess you get parking if you spend a million.

I was surprised at the poor quality of the photos and that there are only a couple when I looked the listing earlier today.

Later I came across this article: “why dont real estate-agents use better photos?”

The Ansonia is a truly historic building, but I’m with the rest who think a million bucks for an apartment there is insane. The apartment might have been worth the money before it was turned into condos. I am horrified to see what is happening to these amazing apartments. The Ansonia was a class act before these “renovations” (well except for maybe the plumbing) but now the units will look like units in any other condo in Tacoma. What a shame. In the old days you could have filmed the Thin Man series with Nick and Nora at the Ansonia. Not any more.
