CLAW Scholarship - Apply Now!

The fine folks at Tacoma’s very own Cartoonists League of Absurd Washingtonians have money and they’d like to give it to someone. The annual CLAW scholarship goes to a “student interested in the learning the mystical art of sequential illustration.” With the deadline fast approaching, we asked RR Anderson for comment:

A secret society of cartoonists, The Cartoonists League of Absurd Washingtonians (CLAW) is looking for an inspiring art student who likes to engage in the eternal torment of cartooning! We would like to stuff his or her pockets with $800+ dollars we’ve managed to squeeze out of the greater Tacoma/Seattle community as a scholarship for the benefit of a cartooning future! Art supplies and educations are expensive, these are dark economic times, and we’re here to give our support. Excelsior!

Previous winners include Kayla Nicole Cline and Amelia Davis.

Students should be currently enrolled, or confirmed to begin enrollment at a college or university. As of the last count, the 2012 CLAW scholarship had reached $876.16.

Applications must be postmarked by May 15th, 2012. Award recipients will be notified in July.

Interested? Know someone that should be interested? Details available at www.cartoonistsleague.org/scholarship. Also, you can contribute to the scholarship at the same link … You too can help foster the next generation of Tacoma’s muckraking cartoon class.

I’m trying to decide which I like better, the article, or the picture. Both are high-larious and well done.
