Last year I got recruited the first nite I moved back to Tacoma when I met some church friends at the Cold Stone Creamery in Westgate! The next day I got more paint on me than the house. But what a great project and feeling of being part of the community.

This is so cool; I just came onto the website to see about adding something about our need for volunteer paint crews for Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful, and here’s this conversation already happening!

I’m the director of the program, and I just want to chime in that we have lots of applications from homeowners (deadline for applications is April 15), and we are going to need lots of crews this year in order to help all these people. Individual volunteers are wonderful: we need you, and we’ll match you with crews.

Even better than individuals are FULL CREWS who will adopt a house, because each new crew means that we will paint one more house. It could be a group of friends, a soccer club, a church group, a book club, a hiking group: your imagination is the limit. Full crews should have at least 15 people.

Maybe you’ve got some suggestions on groups we should approach?

Check out the website and see what’s there that you’d like to do; there are lots of options. www.paintbeautiful.org

Last but not least: Maybe you’ve been driving by a home that’s been getting more and more in need of paint, and you’ve been wondering why. Send us the address, and we’ll send an application to them that explains eligibility requirements; if they apply and are selected, you’ll know that you are the person that started the process: nice gift! (You could even ask to work on that house if it’s selected.)
