Conversations Re:Tacoma 2014: Destiny Realized

Re:Tacoma is back with their annual urban design conversation series. Every year they invite you to join in thoughtful conversations focused on design issues relevant to Tacoma's urban neighborhoods and downtown core. It's an ongoing conversation meant to lead to thoughtful action.
Each of the three monthly events features a different panel of speakers, sharing their expertise on a specific urban design-related topic. The formal portion of the program is followed by an informal after-party where attendees can mingle and continue the conversation with the evening's speakers.
This year's topics relate to visions for Tacoma - how we identify them, and how we know if we're on the right track for our city.
Models from the Outside - September 18 - A conversation about pivotal choices made by the City of Portland that helped transform their urban core. Discussion topics will include the benefits and risks of looking at other cities as role models, and what may or may not be right for Tacoma.6:30-8pm, Thursday, Oct. 16th, UWT Carwein Auditorium, 1754 Commerce St.
Bringing Vision to Action - October 16 - Several visions for Tacoma have come and gone yet we find ourselves once more on the precipice of a new strategic vision. Discussion topics will include how leadership has engaged the public to produce a community vision, and what success looks like if we get it right.
10 x 10 / Thoughts from the Street - The last word this year goes to the people. We all choose to live in Tacoma for different reasons. Whether it’s the grit, the beauty, the opportunity, or the destiny, this is your chance to weigh in. Each speaker will each have 10 minutes and 10 slides to propose a destiny realized. Have your point of view expanded… but only briefly.
With the City moving forward with the Tacoma 2025 strategic visioning process, these conversations are pretty timely. And with the final event open to the public, you've got a chance to put your ideas out there too.
