Cool Stuff Pretty Cheap - One Last Day

Cool Stuff Pretty Cheap, the antique store on Fawcett that’s open one day every other week, is closing its doors.  The building was/is for for sale and Allen Mackenzie, the owner, is reportedly putting his time toward his auction business.  Now’s your chance to pick up some bargains.  Cool Stuff was never very expensive, but this weekend the discounts are at 40% of original.  We were there last weekend and found ourselves heading home with a vintage hi-fi in a custom-made cabinet and 80 reel-to-reels.  Now I’m trying to figure out how to hook it up without frying all the tubes, capacitors, and other gizmos I’ve never seen before.  I left a lot more stuff for all of you.  The ‘fixer’ jukeboxes in the basement are perfect for somebody.  Vintage 50s coffee tables always catch my eye.  There’s enough funky art on the walls to furnish all the new condos in downtown Tacoma.

Open Saturday at 411 S. Fawcett.  Follow the signs.

We’re always told there is a shortage of places for youth in the south end to engage in recreation. So why are we selling this youth recreation center? It’s a little beat up but the appraisal notes that it could be brought up to date by spending approximately $1.1M. This would include new roof and new HVAC systems. This is a lot cheaper than building a new youth center.IMO
