Corruption, Courage, and the Corrosion of "Urban Renewal"

The fine folks from Historic Tacoma will be presenting a free lecture on Thursday night that, if you’re a fan of Tacoma’s history, should not be missed. In 2006, at one of the first Historic Tacoma public meetings, local historian Michael Sullivan presented a fascinating commentary on the history of Tacoma, its built environment and “true stories every Tacoman should know.”  At the end of the talk, Michael had only gotten to the 1920s and folks wanted more.  Well, he’s ready to continue the story.

What will you hear about?  Prohibition.  Corruption.  The colorful 1920s.  The depression.  Downtown labor battles.  Michael seems particularly intrigued by Tacoma Noir, harboiled street stories, crooked politicians, and a jumping downtown.  We want to hear more.
