COTW: Yeesh
Finding a Comment of the Week the last two weeks has been a challenge for us. So many comments. Many good comments. A lot of good discussions … but nothing that stood out. There were only a few that we could recall quickly in our discussion. The snow thread made us smile. In the end, the one that stood out to us was this one by Andrew:
I’m not a big environmentalist or anything, but do people in this area just get a complete kick out of paving over patches of trees? Yeesh.
Did it prompt a big discussion? Not really. I think we simply liked his use of yeesh.

To add to the pathetic nature of earning the COTW with a comment that didn’t provoke discussion, I’m now the first one to comment on the COTW award.
So, go me.

The land wasn’t zoned PoT (Patches of Trees). You can’t just wait until a developer is ready to build and then put up a fight. We are a growing city, builders will build where they can and you can’t hate them for that. If we want to protect land we need to do it now. Slopes, Bluffs, Urban Forests, and everything in between needs to be looked at. As land runs out builders will start looking at our bluffs to build (fyi they already are in North Tacoma).
I would say look at what Pierce County did with the Foss Waterway Park…. but then again they are thinking of allowing a museum to be built on the park land.
Should the county/city work on taking these lands from private ownership and placing them in public ownership?
Does the county/city really want to take these lands off of the tax records?

How about this one for COTW from Andrew:
As a conservative, you….surely… agree that the less government intervention in any issue, and the more reliance of the free market, the better, right?
Possible Retort: I am a conservative, but don’t call be Shirley.

you would be shocked at the amount of bluffs/steep slopes that developers have been looking at to develop.

Hey what up with last weeks post?
Has this feature gone bi-weekly?

Has this feature gone bi-weekly?
No. But occasionally our weekend posts may be sporadic. We missed one. I apologize.
Was there something in the previous week that you were particular proud of saying?

@Eric:
I picked a bad week to stop crystal meth.

COTW along with Ask Sassy are two of my favorite features. I like the human interest topics.

COTW & Ask Sassy, from a marketing standpoint, might even have potential as a new topic daily feature.
