Councilman Stenger Reprimanded After Outbursts

City Councilman Tom Stenger’s vaguely entertaining outbursts took an ugly turn last week and the city council seems to have noticed.  Last week, after a local businesswoman Rose Calvin told of problems with graffiti and crime near her store on Pacific, Stenger called her “prejudiced” and a “bigot.”  This public interaction was the final straw after several public incidents.  Yesterday, the City Council responded by stripping him of his position as chairman of a committee and have put him on probation.  The article in the News Tribune goes into even more colorful details.
