Craft DRAFT

It started in the Commencement Bay Coffee Shop—my photographer friend Willow and I (a local jewelry maker) were talking about venues for having a trunk show. She suggested her studio, which is downtown near the Tacoma Dome—wood floors, high ceilings, and great light. Perfect! And it has just enough space to ask a few crafty girlfriends to join me: Jennifer Havel, Amber Townshend, Grace Sullivan, Jessica Whitson, Toni Sims, Michelle Woods, and Linda Hannigan. Willow and I share an excitement for the local art (and crafts) scene and for encouraging fledgling businesses, so this just seemed a perfect way to collaborate. The Tacoma Crafty Ladies will be putting together a selection of our handmade items at Willow’s studio on Saturday, May 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Items for sale will include crocheted baby blankets and hats, vintage-style aprons for little girls, baby clothes, adorable kids’ hair accessories, hand-sewn baby quilts, purses, jewelry, and stationery. There will be Forza coffee, cupcakes galore, and a chance to pose for Willow’s camera. I’m hoping that it will be a fun afternoon outing for people who enjoy shopping for handmade things and that it will be encouraging for the crafty ladies who are participating.
