Daffodil Parade 2013

With the daffodils (and crocuses and cherry blossoms and magnolias and so many other things) blooming, it’s nearly time for the Daffodil Parade.
This year’s parade will be the 80th Annual Daffodil Parade, with the theme “The Magic of Music.” On Saturday, April 13, the parade will begin in Tacoma at 10:15 a.m., and continue through Puyallup, Sumner, and Orting for the rest of the day. The parade will include nearly 150 different school groups, scout packs, bands, dance squads, local businesses and more. And of course there will be the Daffodil Princesses and floats decorated with thousands of fresh cut daffodils. Find out more at www.thedaffodilfestival.org.
If, by chance you won’t be watching the parade, and have plans that will instead take you out of town this Saturday, you should be aware of Daffodil Parade-related closures that might complicate things a little.

When the last daffodil field has been replaced by concrete tilt-ups and house farms, will it still be held? Are Chilean daffodils a good substitute? So many questions.
