Okay, we know it’s Thursday, but we’re already looking forward to the weekend, and not just because of the slew of events going on, some of which we’ve already mentioned. There will be galas, a Tacoma Opera show, Art at Work events, and more.

Chinese Tea Ceremony
This Saturday, November 5th is your next to last chance to experience a traditional tea ceremony courtesy of the Asia Pacific Cultural Center. Traditional tea ceremonies from countries like China, Korea, Japan, India, Tahiland, and Samoa provide an opportunity for meditation to find inner peace, relaxation and harmony. The APCC has been presenting a series of the ceremonies from a variety of countries over the course of the last year, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the history, difference in tea, and the differences in the manners of drinking tea in each of these cultures. This month’s ceremony will feature Chinese tea and customs.

Art at Work – Kick-Off Tonight, Tacoma Studio Tours This Weekend
You would probably have to be living under a rock to miss the press about the Art at Work Kick-Off tonight at the Museum of Glass, but don’t forget that’s not all there is to Art at Work Month. For this 10th anniversary of A@W in Tacoma, there are more events than ever, including this weekend’s studio tours, which will give you the chance to explore the variety of the spaces in which Tacoma artists do their work. The public will have the chance to see how artists work, ask questions, and even participate in some hands-on activities.

Uncovering Tacoma’s Authenticity

RE:Tacoma brings you another in their 2011 lecture series on urban design issues with an emphasis on action and implementation. This month’s conversation, “Uncovering Tacoma’s Authenticity: What’s the Draw?” will feature panel conversation on creating and sustaining a vision for Tacoma’s future, including insights into what developers are looking for, the importance of good urban design in community-building, and some ideas for public engagement and action in Tacoma.
