Humane Society Cat(s) of the Week

It’s time for another cute animal fix, courtesy of the Humane Society’s pets of the week.  This week’s cat of the week is actually a two-fer; they’re siblings, and want to stay together, so you can take home both of them for the price of one cat.

Find these furry friends, and more on the Tacoma & Pierce County Humane Society website.

Best Bus Stop Story Contest

Pierce Transit is asking riders to submit stories and pictures of their favorite bus stops in the Best Bus Stop Story Contest.  This is your chance to recognize your favorite bus driver, fellow passengers, or bus stop with a view.

Submissions will be accepted now through November 28th, and will be featured on the Pierce Transit Facebook page.  Fabulous prizes include entry in a drawing for a free Orca card, and the opportunity to be featured in Pierce Transit publications.  This could be your chance at your very own 15 minutes of fame…

Don’t just sit there, visit www.piercetransit.org to read all about it, and enter your favorite bus stop.

“Long Live Libraries”

Here’s a little something you may have noticed if you visited the downtown library recently – a cozy little piece of guerrilla public art warming up the parking sign, reading “Long live libraries.”  We saw it first from Tacoma Arts , where it sparked a really great reflection on the public library and independent bookstores.  You can read their thoughts, and see a picture of the art on the Tacoma Arts website.  We’re fans of guerrilla art, and we always love a tip on where we can see it in Tacoma.

“Tombstone Tales” at King’s Books

Are you in the mood for Halloween yet?  How about a walk through a cemetery?  Tonight King’s Books has the literary equivalent for you tonight – an author talk with Kris Anderson Reisinger, the author of the recently released Cemeteries of Tacoma.  Reisinger will tell tales of the history and maybe haunting of Tacoma’s cemeteries.

Where:  King’s Books
When:  Thursday, October 27 at 7p.m.

Shout-Out to IID

One more thing:  we’d like to congratulate Tacoma-based Internet Identity (IID) on receiving the Online Trust Alliance’s online trust leadership award.  It’s always good to see Tacoma companies recognized for their hard work.
