Darn Technology
Last night at dinner I mentioned to Laura that my laptop was reaching senior citizen status (like four years old) and, while it works great, I was concerned. Sure, there’s the desktop computer… but that’s on the desk. I’ve grown so dependent on the 4 pound portable for updating the site, keeping notes in class, storing emails, and processing photos when I’m not at home that… well, it’s dead. I don’t really know how dead yet. It could be a hard drive crash. It could simply be a (very) corrupt Windows install. I’ve seen a lot of hardware and software crashes in my life and this one seems pretty bad. We’ll look into it this weekend.
Why do I tell you this? Because I owe emails to a lot of you and they are mostly on this brick laptop sitting next to me. Also, if you’ve sent me photos for the 365 Days project anytime prior to today – I may not have them.
We’ll be checking our backups tonight to see what’s salvageable. In the meantime, wish me luck.
