DATE NIGHT: Gotta have the funk
Sometimes you just don’t know where to take that special someone. Maybe she’s the pretty girl in the next cubical. Maybe he’s the guy you see every morning on the Link. Maybe you’ve been married for 25 years.
Several folks have come to us asking what they should do in Tacoma. They’re new here. Or rediscovering here. Whatever your situation, we’re here to help.
Date Night this week is Friday night on 6th Avenue. You’ll want a dinner reservation around 7, but probably not later than 7:30.
We’d recommend starting the night at Il Fiasco. Impress your date by ordering a 2004 Melipal Malbec and describe the flavors of cherry, leather, red currants, and sweet tea. Il Fiasco can fill up, so call now! If Italian’s not your thing for Friday, there are a lot of options on the street. Indian? No problem. Steak? Of course. There’s something for you on this street.
Also for your consideration, Pairings will be hosting a “Forbidden” Red Tasting that starts at 6.
After a romantic dinner, it’s time to get funky. George Clinton, AKA Dr. Funkenstein, is next door at Jazzbones as a special guest of the 420 Funk. Tickets start at $50. But it’s George Clinton, so you know it’ll be worth it. The funk starts at 9 pm.
It’ll be a memorable night out, so buy your tickets, make that reservation, and ask that special someone out for a groovy night.

if you’re on a budget (and who isn’t these days) have your sweetie meet you downtown after work, go see an art show like THE HELM then after you’re hipster-ed out… head over to PSP for a pineapple and pepperoni pizza.
And life is good.

You can’t mention 6th anymore these days without a shout-out for Crown Bar. Aside from Pacific Grill’s late night happy hour, it is the best bar food in town.
