Democrats Endorse Both Jinkins and Fey to Replace Flannigan?

We were curious how this was going to turn out … it seems that the 27th LD Democrats have endorsed both Laurie Jinkins and Jake Fey to replace State Representative Dennis Flannigan. The position represents much of Tacoma. Via a press release (Update: Not an official 27th Dem press release we’ve learned – more may come out soon):

The 27th Legislative District Democratic Club broke with tradition and endorsed two candidates for the State House of Representatives, Position 1. The seat is being vacated by Representative Dennis Flannigan.

At the Club’s June 28th meeting, former Representative Art Wang urged the dual endorsement of Laurie Jinkins and Jake Fey, and his motion was approved by more than 60 percent of the members and PCOs. “We have two strong Democrats in the primary, and we need to send them both on to the general election,” Wang said. Fey, whose supporters hoped the Club would only endorse him, was gracious in the defeat, and crossed the crowded room to congratulate Jinkins. In his talk, Fey noted his long service as an elected official. Jinkins, a fresh voice in electoral politics, pointed out she enjoys a wide range of endorsements and has knocked on more doors and raised twice as much money as any other candidate in the race.

We’ll see how this goes …
