Dockyard Derby Dames - This Weekend

Reminder: This weekend kicks of the Dockyard Derby Dames 2012 season.

After a slight delay due to weather (remember Snowpocalypse 2012?), the Dockyard Derby Dames are finally ready to get their season started. Tacoma’s original roller derby league is rolling onto the track for their first public bout of 2012 this Saturday, March 31 at Pierce College. The Dockyard Derby Dames will kick off season six with a night of rivalries, rematches and retribution. The double header starts off with the Marauding Mollys battling Season 5 champions The Trampires, followed by the Hellbound Homewreckers taking on the Femme Fianna.

Bring the kids to this family-friendly event or get there early to get a seat in the ever popular beer garden. Tickets often sell out, so get yours now via Brown Paper Tickets.

The Dockyard Derby Dames is a not-for-profit league run by the skaters. Founded in 2006, Dockyard has changed from a small group of women with a dream to skate competitively to a five-team functioning league with national status. In 2010, Dockyard became nationally competitive member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). As individuals, they are teachers, accountants, mothers, lawyers, nurses, machinists, social service workers, journalists, designers, students, business women, sales associates, hairdressers, and engineers. Together Dockyard is composed of over 80 passionate, professional, and athletic women who range in age from 21 to 53 and are devoted to fostering sisterhood and good, clean competition.
