Dome-o Arigato, Mr. Anonymous Donor...
It was a pleasant surprise to learn yesterday, the first day of Spring, that the Tacoma Dome will be getting a much-needed spring cleaning.
An anonymous donor will cover up to $103,835 to have the Dome’s grime scoured away for the first time since 2003. According to the Daily Index, the same contractor who cleaned and repaired the Dome roof nearly 10 years ago will begin work Monday, March 26.
Maybe while they’re up there…

This much needed improvement to Tacoma’s I-5 face comes just in time for the opening of the nearby LeMay museum this summer, and will certainly brighten our skyline from that direction. Which makes us wonder…

Although I like the painted design on the Dome, I would love to see the design or a different design in brighter colors. The varying shades of Tacoma grey is quite boring and does nothing to accentuate our landmark. It definitely needs a “pop”!!! There are other complimentary NW colors that would be so attractive. Our lovely fall tones of reds, burnt oranges and yellows would be gorgeous! Even greens! From a vibrant fern green to varying other shades of our beautiful
NW evergreens! What a sight to see for travelers passing through, it would catch their eye and could attract them to
stop into our lovely city.
