Downtown Parking Survey
Parking downtown in the morning can mean trouble. All of the two-hour spots are taken. Chaos, frustration, and parking tickets ensue. Not a great way to start the day.
The Citizen Parking Implementation Committee is currently exploring downtown parking options other than the present car shuffle strategy, including moving to paid on-street parking.
As an early step, the Committee would like to hear from downtown business owners and other employers in the central business district about downtown parking. They would like to get your assessment of the current situation and ask for your ideas about effective parking management strategies for the future.
Please take a moment to complete their survey at www.barneyandworth.com/tacoma.
The survey will be available until September 26.

Tacoma has a very underutilized bus system. If parking is a problem for you, I suggest you look into the many, many bus routes that head downtown.

Might as well plus the streetcar system idea while you’re filling out the survey, although I doubt the messages will actually get to people who have influence over it.

Streetcars. Live, work, and play… without the expense of a car.

Since my job moved to Tacoma, I have been riding the bus and love it. My company does not allow for a parking space if I commute so it is a little inconvenient when I have to leave for an appt during work hours as I have nowhere to park.
